“Hi there, it’s Simon, Managing Director of Benedix. Thank you very much for coming to the Benedix website.

You know, I feel bad. I realised that you registered with us a while ago and I never did anything to follow up with you. I’m a bad friend. I’ve realised that you are the most valuable person to me and that I should do something nice for you…

I’m going to be meeting CEO’s and top achievers from the leading Investment Banks and Financial Institutions across the world and I would really like for you to come. I will be getting inside the heads of those who went from student to CEO and seeing what we can learn from them. I’m also going to give you loads of really valuable tips on securing internships and careers in banking and finance during tough times.

I will be posting these videos on a blog for you and will let you know how to access it for free. Tell me what you think. I’m also curious about what your needs are and what problems you might be having with your career in banking and finance. Leave your comments on the blog  and let me know”

You will be able to access some of these videos by clicking here on Simon’s blog. Subscribe to the RSS link and we will send you further videos and interviews as they come in

    Dear Simon

I am an International Student studing MSc Management and Finance from an average University. I came to UK with many ambitions and desires to try my luck in a financial hub and to acheive my goal to become a future CEO.

I don’t have 2:1 in my graduation but expected to achieve in postgraduation. I was working with one of the Asset management companies in India called Bharti AXA Investment Managers.

Due to my grades in graduation I am not able to apply to most of the graduate applications. Please give me some guidelines on how i can secure my first job here and to build my career.

      Hi,

I know many people in your situation. You are not alone. Remember 2.1 or above is only a requirement of the larger companies with well defined graduate schemes. I worked on a trading floor where I was the one of three people who had a degree.

A degree is defiantly not everything, though helpful.

I suggest applications to Mid Cap and Boutique Financial Institutions. Make sure you get your subsidy for the City Professional Program http://www.benedix.co.uk/subsidy and I will be able to run through career options for you and get you a list of companies that will take on international students with a 2.1 or less.

This is a common problem I have helped people to overcome.

      Hope to meet you soon.

      Simon

Hi Simon and colleagues — Firstly , hello.Hope you are all well.Secondly, I just want to say that all your emails have been very informative. At the moment , I am trying to secure a full time position with the HSBC Bank in Birmingham and am waiting for the telephone and competency skills interviews.

I am confident that by using the right psychological mindset , strategy and jargon I will be successful. The same procedure is being used with any recruitment agencies that I am in contact with too. The Financial Market Descriptions article will be a useful reference point for me if any customers make enquiries. Hence , allowing me to express the phrase ” knowledge in action is only power ” . Many thanks. Respect.
