The Future of Banking & Finance – Preparing the Next Generation

For students, business, finance & economics professors & careers advisors

Learn to TradeThis two hour talk has been extremely popular amongst students who wish to understand the financial crisis, what it means for their careers and how they can play their part in a solution. Banking & Finance needs prepared students more than ever as we turn to the next generation of banking and finance leaders to play their part in making a difference.

Those students who understand the true nature of the financial crisis will be the ones who get the jobs as the market becomes more and more competitive. This seminar goes beyond the blame and digs deep into the history of the financial crisis putting together economic, financial and political information to explain the financial crisis in easy to understand words. This interactive seminar includes worked examples, handouts, audience participation and fully up-to-date research. By the end of the seminar students, professors and careers advisors will know what we need to do to prevent another financial crisis and the impact this will have on us all.

This seminar is completely independent and impartial and is designed to stimulate thought rather than place blame. Any student seeking a career in banking and finance must attend this event as the competition for banking and finance roles grows increasingly competitive.

In this seminar we will answer the following questions:

  1. A historical look at how money is created and how that is related to the crisis
  2. Why does our economy boom & bust?
  3. Why are we in debt and how does that relate to banking and finance
  4. What is happening now in the financial crisis
  5. What is the government doing about it
  6. What is the future of banking & finance
  7. What should I as a student do now if I want to work in banking & finance?

This event has been extremely popular and due to limited resources can only be delivered in front of a large audience (the speakers cost us a bomb!). We will deliver the event free of charge providing the following criteria are met:

  • Use of the largest venue in your university without costs.
  • Events are well promoted and a minimum of 200 students register to attend.
  • Careers Advisors, relevant course leaders (Economics, Finance, Business, Politics etc.) and society presidents (Economic, Investment & Finance) promote the event together.

Dates and times are subject to availability as this talk has been very popular. To arrange a talk at your university email oncampus(at)benedix.co.uk

What Past Attendees Said:

"Not only did Simon share a great deal of knowledge with us when he visited, he also kept the whole room thoroughly entertained with
anecdotes from his life and career in banking and finance.  It was a very valuable and enjoyable experience and I look forward to seeing him
speak again soon."

Matthew Cooper (2nd Year Economics Undergraduate, Royal Holloway, University of London)

‘Simon’s was the most inspiring and exhilarating talk I have been to. I thoroughly enjoyed his lively recollections of his journey from ‘tea
boy’ to trader.  His story and advice is especially relevant to anyone seeking a job in a highly competitive profession.’

Natalie Sykes (3rd year biomedical scientist, seeking a career in law)
