What is a Hedge Fund Manager and Private Equity Manager?

What qualification do I get?
You will need to train for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). The CAIA are widely recognised for people wanting to work in alternative investments including: hedge fund managers , private equity fund managers and venture capital fund managers, and those requiring to have passed a threshold competency exam in alternative investments.
What is the ‘Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst’ qualification?
The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) was founded by the CAIA Association® in 2002 and is the first and only qualification which focuses on alternative investments. The qualification has global recognition and currently attracts over 7,000 candidates from more than 70 countries.
Level I
Level I exam = 2×2 hours (plus optional 30 min break). Multiple choice questions.

Level II

This level covers alternative investments and integrated topics, which are updated annually to relate to current developments/issues in the alternative investment market place. The emphasis is on the practical selection of alternative assets, managers and strategies from a portfolio perspective.

How is CAIA structured?
In order to become a CAIA® charterholder you must complete Level I and Level II of the CAIA designation. In addition to successfully completing both levels of the qualification, you must have at least one year of professional experience and a bachelor degree or four years’ professional work experience.
