“I Reform Banking”
After having a mentoring session with Mike Harris (The creator of three multi billion pound businesses, two in Banking & Finance), those were the words I left with on my notepad and lips.
But the real question is, will we or won’t we?
Mike Harris wanted to transform Banking, so he created the first telephone Bank and then the first internet bank, and transform he did.
He told me I need to reform, transform, revolutionise or do something else.
Anyone think we have a thing or two to learn from this level of thinking?
If so read on.
I was overwhelmed, flustered and touched by the feedback that I got from my last blog post on the difference between a Banking & Finance billionaire, millionaire, £100k salary, £25k salary and a student who considered himself broke, that I got inspired to fill in some of the gaps…
And give you something you can use RIGHT NOW…
Your comments are the fuel in my tank, so please share your thoughts below after reading this post.
I would like to show you how to take your visions And Make Them A Reality…
From spending my time with the most successful in Banking & Finance, I have come to realise that success is simply a ‘System Of Thinking’…
A long time ago I decided that I wanted a job in Banking & Finance.
And a job in Banking & Finance I got.
I was a tea boy at stock Brokers TD Waterhouse.
For some reason it was not enough, but a job in Banking & Finance was the extent of my vision at the time.
I knew I wanted a Life Of Always Growing And Contributing…
But what I found was that every time I got what I wanted,my vision Got Bigger Every Time.
I have found that once you achieve a desired result,
…achievement becomes contagious and your Vision expands For what Else You Can Achieve…
You start to believe anything is possible.
When I got my first job as a stock broker in Manchester, I wanted to be the person that moved the stock market in London.
When I got my job as a market maker, and moved the stock market from London, I wanted to be the person that creates the stock.
When I got my career as an Investment Banker, and created stock, I wanted to be the person that creates the business to float on the market.
When I created my first business, I wanted to be the person that allows others to grow businesses.
When I created my private equity company, I wanted to reform our monetary system to sustainability.
As I make progress with Monetary Reform, I want to have an impact on world poverty.
As I work on Micro-financing, I want to reform Banking.
As a lay out my plans for the next decade I find myself meeting VC’s retuning from Silicon Valley to discuss the integration of social media and banking.
As I reflect now, on a Sunday, I ask a question…
What is the difference between…
Those who don’t plan their life…
Those who dream but never follow through…
And those who create?
What is the difference between those ideas that never become a reality and the ones that do?
My conclusion?
Creators have a replicable system of thinking.
My whole life now is about being a strategist
I systematically, strategically and consistently implement my visions.
But that wasn’t aways the case.
You see today, there are so many demands on what you can focus your time on,
that if you do not decide what to focus on,
your achievement in Banking & Finance will just be a dream.
I was reflecting on some of my meetings last week with Banking and Finance leaders and I wanted to give you something you could use to achieve more, earn more and get more opportunities in Banking and Finance.
I remembered something one of my mentors taught me a long time ago.
You see, half of what we do is remembering the things that we knew but forget to use.
I make it a ritual to invest in training programs and mentoring every week to remind myself what works
And learn new things that can compress decades of trial and error into days.
Every leader in Banking & Finance has the answer to 3 questions.
What is the vision?
What is the specific result you are committed to achieving in Banking & Finance?
Now most people don’t know or just have a vague answer to this question.
It needs to be specific enough so your brain can conceive it and make it real.
If you don’t know what you want, the chances of you getting it are slim.
You see, whatever you focus on continuously, you will get as long as you stay at it.
I want to work in Banking & Finance is far to vague to get a result.
But knowing what you want is not enough on it’s own.
You must have an emotion that moves you to take action.
Whatever emotion you have will determine where you go.
Leaders in Banking & Finance have a plan for their life that is larger than the day to day.
If you want to be a billionaire, your rituals will be different from a millionaire.
‘Banking & Finance billionaire’ is a system of thinking that allows you to get those results, this is fueled by vision and passion.
You see if you just had a to do list for this vision, you would be overwhelmed.
The more you focus on what you actually have to do, the less likely you are to do it and get started.
If somebody told me what was going to be involved in making Benedix the leading training and consultancy for students and graduates that want to earn more, achieve more and get more offers in Banking & Finance, I would never have began.
It was the vision that drove the action.
I knew I could help and deliver. And that feeling of contribution was the fuel during uncertain times.
I asked myself some question when I decided to create Benedix…
Whats my vision for my life?
What specific measurable result do I want?
I wanted to reform banking and I figured what better way, than working with the next generation of leaders in Banking & Finance.
You need to become a results leader.
You must focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear.
Most people are driven by avoiding things they fear.
Achievement requires risk, mistakes, failure and rejection.
In fact the more of this you have, the more you achieve.
Most people focus on what will go wrong and never begin.
You see most people are actually achieving their outcomes, but they don’t realise they are achieving them because they never decided on their vision.
Like somebody that just wants more money.
Here is 50p, now get out of here, you have achieved your goal.
The second thing all Banking & Finance leaders know is they know their purpose…
And the purpose has so much emotion to them, that failure is not an option.
They have emotional reasons for why they are going to make it happen.
As soon as you know what you want, challenges are going to come up.
You need to push through these barriers. You need a strong enough reason to push through these barriers.
Purpose equals power.
You have to find the way, or make the way.
Whatever it takes.
Why is this a must for you?
Why do you want to achieve this?
Emotionally engage with this feeling and use this emotion in all you do.
Leaders create, not follow the status quo.
Everybody has there own reasons.
Once you get this right the third question is how?
Only then are you ready for the specifics.
And the answer to this is modeling the strategy of those who have achieved your desired outcome.
Only when you get questions one and two answered, will you follow through.
The difference between work and play is the emotion of purpose.
“Activity without purpose is the drain to a life of fulfillment.” Anthony Robbins
I want to hook you to go for more…
If I said to you I know a man whose Banking and Finance career is really juicy and exciting,
he’s achieved an enormous amount,
he spends all day every day meeting the most successful people in Banking & Finance and finding out what the key distinctions between success and failure is,
he is living his vision in Banking & Finance at a very young age compared to most…
And he could tell you the exact systematic way that he did it…
And he is willing to tell you how you can do the same, if only you promise to use it and get the same results…
So you become an example to others and a future leader earning more, achieving more and getting multiple opportunities every day in Banking & Finance…
How many of you would make such a promise to use it?
Say yes aloud if you would do this?
Well I am, and I am him.

P.S. A goal that will become a reality is one that is immediately followed up with some sort of action that commits you while you are in an empowering emotional state.
For example, you might get yourself in an emotional state where you are hyped up about becoming fit, but until you take one action that commits you to making it a reality, you are at risk of losing the emotion.
In this example, while you are emotionally charged, you should book an appointment with a personal trainer or join the gym immediately or take any action that commits you towards it’s achievement.
If you would like to continue this momentum, watch the nine videos that will allow you to achieve more, earn more and get more offers in Banking & Finance.

Hey Simon,
Once again a great post. I absolutely love your posts and videos though I decided long back that B&F isn’t for me. But I still follow you because it motivates me to see how motivated you are. And so much of what you say is applicable across fields: things like know thyself, know the game, know the players, define a goal, strategise and go for the kill. They underline and reinforce a success-oriented mindset, which is self-perpetuating, and therein lies their charm for me. I finally know what I want and have charted a course for it, so reading your very focused posts or watching your videos (though I don’t dwell on the B&F part) only strengthens my beliefs about success and further fires me up towards working on my goal.
So thank you very much.
