Graduates urged to go the extra mile

Finance graduates and others need to go that extra mile during a job interview, an expert has suggested.

Claire Cooper, human resources director at Avalon Funerals, said applicants should research the business before they reach the interview stage.

She remarked: "You need to go that extra mile to show the interviewer that you really are interested in working for the company."

Ms Cooper noted that contenders should go online and look at the businesses website, along with checking Companies House for facts and information on the firm.

She also stated university leavers and others need to make sure they appear confident and not arrogant as that is a turn off for prospective bosses, as is waffling or moving away from the original question.

Meanwhile, Amber Green recently claimed aspirants should always maintain eye contact with those conducting interviews as this shows poise and lets the employer know were they stand.
