Petition launched against the proposed rise in NI

Those seeking finance graduate jobs may be impacted by the proposed rise in National Insurance, which has led a number of organisations to start a petition.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has joined forces with the likes of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) to call on small firms to sign a petition urging the government to freeze National Insurance.

Research by the FSB recently found that increasing National Insurance by one per cent will cost 57,000 jobs.

FSB national chairman John Wright said the petition aims to tell the government that action needs to be taken to help tackle unemployment.

"The rise in National Insurance is a tax on jobs and will cost the country in thousands of jobs, as well as prevent small firms from taking on more members of staff at this crucial time in the country’s economic recovery," he said.

The BCC said in an official statement: "The case is clear. No NICs [National Insurance contributions] increase – no tax on jobs."ADNFCR-2605-ID-19645186-ADNFCR
