Finance graduate job seekers welcome drop in unemployment

Finance graduate jobs may be easier to come by following new figures that reveal a decrease in unemployment.

The number of people out of work during January fell by 3,000, bringing the total to 2.46 million, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), said the figures support the increase in hiring over recent months.

"Improving employer confidence is resulting in a more positive outlook on hiring intentions over the coming year, but the UK jobs market remains fragile," he said.

"There are real concerns that the squeeze on public expenditure will counteract some of these positive trends, particularly in regions that are heavily dependent on public sector jobs."

The REC’s latest Jobs Outlook Survey published this week reveals that only two per cent of businesses expect to make further cut backs in staff – the lowest number seen since the monthly survey began last year.ADNFCR-2605-ID-19623904-ADNFCR
