Finance graduate job seekers prefer Scotland

More finance graduate job seekers choose Scotland over England when it comes to searching for work, new research has revealed.

TalentScotland’s annual survey of 1600 jobseekers polled from America, Africa, the European Union and Asia found that 49 per cent of the 299 respondents looking for jobs in financial services would choose Scotland.

This is compared to the 46 per cent who favoured England.

Head of TalentScotland Hazel Sinclair said the country is an internationally recognised centre for financial services.

"With high value and exciting jobs in fund accounting, banking, life assurance and pensions, investment management, global custody, software development and asset servicing, Scotland can offer the job satisfaction that applicants are looking for," she said.

Scotland’s financial services industry currently employs around 91,000 directly and another 70,000 in related jobs, according to the organisation.

Global companies with significant operations and potential opportunities for graduates in Scotland include JPMorgan, Citigroup, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley and State Street.
