Banking graduate jobs could be created in 2010 following a leading politician’s urge for change.
In his new year speech, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg encourages other party leaders to "hit the political reset button" and restore people’s faith in politics and the economy.
Ahead of next year’s general election, Mr Clegg claimed that change had to occur in order to get people to vote.
Outlining his party’s policies, Mr Clegg focused on a belief in fairness, and mentioned a plan to create "hundred of thousands of new jobs" through rebuilding transport, energy and housing infrastructure.
"Above all, we are now the only party with a detailed plan to make taxes fair – removing all income tax on the first £10000 you earn, paid for by asking people at the top to pay a bit more," he added.
The Conservative’s shadow universities secretary David Willetts was reported in the Telegraph as saying that the rising number of unemployed graduates was a direct result of Gordon Brown’s "economic mismanagement".
